Fargo, North Dakota – The investigation into the disappearance of 25-year-old Isadora Wengel took a major turn Tuesday afternoon when an arrest was made in connection with her case. At 1:33 p.m. on February 10, the Fargo Police Department, with assistance from the Metro Street Crimes Unit, arrested a Fargo man following weeks of joint investigative work.

Arrest made in missing person investigation

Authorities identified the suspect as Joshua Alexander Hite, 21, a Fargo resident. Police said Wengel had originally been reported missing on January 7 to the West Fargo Police Department. Since that report, investigators from multiple agencies have been working together to gather evidence and determine what happened.

According to officials, evidence and information collected during the investigation led to the establishment of probable cause to arrest Hite on charges of Murder and Tampering with Evidence. Police said Hite was taken into custody outside his apartment without incident. No injuries were reported during the arrest.

Authorities did not release further details about the circumstances surrounding Wengel’s disappearance or the nature of the evidence at this time. Officials stated that no additional information is being made public while the investigation continues.

A news conference has been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, at Gateway Commons inside FPD Headquarters, located at 105 25th St. N. The department said the briefing will provide an update on the case and will be broadcast and live-streamed through the City of Fargo’s access channels, including TVFargo.com and Fargo Police social media platforms.

Investigators continue to ask for the public’s help. Anyone with information related to Isadora Wengel’s disappearance is urged to contact the Fargo Police Department at 701-451-7660. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by texting the keyword FARGOPD or WFPD along with the tip to 847411.
