Fargo residents face SNAP benefit delays due to a system upgrade

Fargo, North Dakota – As food insecurity remains a pressing concern across the United States, many individuals depend on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to obtain necessary provisions.

Unfortunately, residents in the Fargo area have encountered delays in receiving these crucial benefits, leading to feelings of despair.

Ashley Drylie, a mother who relies on SNAP to help feed her children, expressed her distress, stating, “I am sitting here with nothing to my name, and no income, and I don’t know what I’m going to do.”

Drylie has previously faced similar delays, having gone without benefits for an extended period last November. She eventually received them after contacting a supervisor, but this time she was unable to reach anyone higher up.

Drylie was advised to utilize local food banks in Fargo, but she is not only worried about her own situation but also about other families who might be experiencing similar difficulties. “The families that go in and ask for help, we’re already struggling,” she said. “I just feel like the services are kicking us when we’re already down.”

We reached out to the Cass Human Services Zone, which acknowledged that ongoing system software upgrades could be causing delays for some individuals. Those facing delays in benefits are urged to contact Applyforhelp.nd.gov for support.
