West Fargo announces Labor Day schedule changes affecting city offices, garbage collection, and recycling services
West Fargo, North Dakota – The City of West Fargo will close its offices and public buildings on Monday, Sept. 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.
The holiday closure will also affect garbage and recycling services throughout the city. No garbage or recycling collection will take place Monday. As a result, regular collection will be delayed by one day for the entire week.
Residents are encouraged to check their normal collection schedule and prepare for the temporary change.
City buildings closed while public safety operations continue
All West Fargo buildings will be closed to the public for Labor Day. The closures include City Hall, the Public Library, Sanitation, Public Works and the Transfer Station.
The West Fargo Police and Fire Department buildings will also be closed to visitors. However, public safety agencies will remain fully operational throughout the holiday, meaning emergency services will continue despite the public building closures.
The holiday will also change the schedule for the West Fargo City Commission. Instead of its normal meeting date, the commission will meet Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026.
Regular city operations are expected to resume following the Labor Day closure.
