Fargo police ask community for help identifying suspects through new social media series

Fargo, North Dakota – The Fargo Police Department has introduced a new community-focused effort aimed at helping investigators identify individuals connected to certain criminal cases. The initiative, called “Name That Suspect,” will rely on help from the public to recognize people who may be linked to non-violent offenses that remain unsolved.
Police officials say the new series will appear regularly on the department’s social media platforms and will highlight individuals investigators are actively trying to identify.
According to the department, officers often spend significant time investigating cases, reviewing evidence, and examining surveillance footage. However, officials say there are situations where the final piece needed to solve a case comes from someone in the community recognizing a person involved.
Community assistance sought through new social media series
The Fargo Police Department explained that “Name That Suspect” will be a recurring social media series highlighting individuals we are actively trying to identify in connection with non-violent or lower-level offenses. This new series will allow our team to seek community help on cases where internal investigative efforts have been exhausted for cases that might otherwise go unsolved.
Officials stressed that the series will focus only on lower-level or non-violent crimes. More serious or violent cases will continue to be handled through the department’s existing methods for requesting public assistance.
Police also emphasized that this program is designed to build cooperation between investigators and residents while helping officers close cases that might otherwise remain unresolved. According to authorities, the goal of the new program is to solve more cases and continue reducing overall crime in Fargo.
First cases featured in “Name That Suspect”
The department’s inaugural edition of the series is already asking the community for help identifying two individuals connected to separate incidents.
The first person investigators are attempting to identify is connected to a fleeing incident that occurred at 10:16 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7. According to police records listed under ICR: 26-1720, the individual initially stopped when officers conducted a traffic stop. However, before officers were able to confirm the person’s identity, the individual fled from the scene.
A second individual featured in the first edition of the series is linked to a shoplifting case reported around 10:55 p.m. on Saturday, February 28. The incident occurred in the 4700 block of 13th Avenue South, according to investigators.
Police said the individual left the store and entered a maroon Ford F-150, believed to be a model from the early 2000s. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle shortly afterward, the driver of the truck fled from the area.
Investigators are now hoping that someone in the Fargo community may recognize the individuals shown in the department’s social media posts.
Anyone who believes they recognize the suspects is encouraged to contact the Fargo Police Department at 701.241.5777. Officials also note that anonymous tips can be submitted by texting the keyword FARGOPD along with the tip to 847411.
