West Fargo announces road closures and detours for 9th Street corridor reconstruction project

West Fargo, North Dakota – Drivers in West Fargo should prepare for changes in their daily routes as a key intersection and surrounding roads are set to close for construction. City officials announced that beginning Monday, April 27, the intersection of 12th Avenue North and 9th Street Northeast, including the roundabout, will be shut down as part of the larger 9th Street NE corridor reconstruction project.

The closure is part of a broader effort to improve infrastructure along the corridor, with work expected to continue through late May. If weather conditions allow, the project is scheduled to be completed by Tuesday, May 26.

Detours and travel adjustments in place

With the closure in effect, several detours have been mapped out to help guide traffic around the construction zone. Northbound drivers on 9th Street NE will be redirected to 19th Avenue North using 7th Avenue North and 45th Street North. Meanwhile, southbound traffic on 57th Street North will be rerouted to 7th Avenue North through 19th Avenue North and 45th Street North.

Drivers traveling west on 12th Avenue North will be directed toward Center Street using 45th Street North and 7th Avenue North. For those heading east on 12th Avenue NE, the detour route will guide them to 45th Street North through Center Street and 7th Avenue North.

City officials are warning that commuters may face delays, especially during peak travel times, and are encouraging residents to plan ahead. Motorists are also reminded to stay cautious while driving through or near construction areas and to follow safety guidelines.

Residents who want updates about the project can sign up for notifications through the city’s website. Officials say staying informed will help drivers better navigate the temporary changes.

As construction continues, the city is urging everyone to remain patient and follow posted signs to ensure safety for both drivers and workers. The project is expected to bring long-term improvements, even as it causes short-term disruptions for those traveling through the area.
