Fargo Public Works announces snow clearing operations affecting downtown parking

Fargo, North Dakota – The Fargo Public Works is preparing to carry out another round of snow removal operations in Downtown Fargo, with crews focusing on clearing north and south streets overnight into early morning hours.

Officials announced that work will begin in the evening of Monday, April 6, and continue into the morning of Tuesday, April 7. The effort is part of ongoing cleanup operations aimed at improving road conditions and ensuring safer travel throughout the downtown area.

Overnight snow removal requires parking changes

To complete the work effectively, crews will need enough space to operate large equipment and remove accumulated snow. Beginning at 2 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, vehicles parked in no-parking zones along downtown’s north and south streets will be asked to move.

The affected area includes all streets between 2nd Avenue South and 7th Avenue North, stretching from 2nd Street to University Drive. During this time, east and west avenues in downtown Fargo will remain available for legal parking, giving drivers an alternative place to leave their vehicles.

City officials are encouraging residents and visitors to plan ahead and take advantage of public parking options. Parking ramps and surface lots throughout downtown will be available, with some locations offering free parking after 5 p.m. and on weekends. Additional information about parking locations can be found through the city’s online resources.

Fargo Public Works is also asking for cooperation from the public to help crews complete the work safely and efficiently. Drivers and pedestrians are urged to keep a safe distance from snow removal equipment, especially in busy downtown areas where space is limited and congestion can increase risks.

By temporarily adjusting parking and allowing crews room to operate, the city aims to clear streets more effectively and maintain safe conditions for everyone traveling through downtown Fargo.
