Downtown Fargo snow removal effort requires overnight parking changes and clear streets for crews

Fargo, North Dakota – The Fargo Public Works Department has announced overnight snow removal operations in Downtown Fargo, urging residents and visitors to move vehicles and allow crews the space needed to clear streets safely and efficiently.

Crews will concentrate on removing snow from north–south streets beginning Monday evening, Feb. 23, and continuing into the morning hours of Tuesday, Feb. 24. Officials say the work is necessary to restore safe travel conditions and improve accessibility following recent winter weather.

Overnight Parking Restrictions and Impound Notice

To ensure crews can complete the work, vehicles parked in restricted areas will be subject to impoundment beginning at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. The enforcement zone includes all north–south streets between 2nd Avenue South and 7th Avenue North, and from 2nd Street to University Drive.

During this time, downtown east–west avenues will remain legal for parking.

City officials stress that removing parked vehicles is essential to allow heavy equipment to maneuver and remove accumulated snow. Operators require clear access to properly load and haul snow away from the downtown core.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to use parking ramps and surface lots throughout downtown. Select locations offer free parking after 5 p.m. and on weekends. Additional parking information is available at FargoParking.com/Locations.

Safety Reminder for Pedestrians and Drivers

Fargo Public Works is asking the public to assist crews by giving equipment operators adequate space to perform their duties. Large snow removal vehicles require extra room to turn, load, and transport snow.

Officials also remind pedestrians and motorists to keep a safe distance from equipment hauling snow, particularly in the downtown area where congestion is greater and visibility may be limited.

By following posted parking restrictions and staying clear of snow removal operations, residents can help crews complete the work quickly and safely, ensuring downtown streets remain accessible and safe for travel during the winter season.
