City of West Fargo announces municipal building closures and changes to waste collection services for Veterans Day

West Fargo, North Dakota – The City of West Fargo has announced that municipal buildings and several public facilities will be closed on November 11 in observance of Veterans Day, with changes also affecting garbage and recycling collection throughout the week.

According to city officials, all municipal buildings will be closed to the public for the holiday. The closures will include City Hall, the West Fargo Public Library, Sanitation, Public Works and the Transfer Station.

Residents should also prepare for temporary adjustments to their regular waste collection schedules.

Garbage and recycling services normally scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday will each be delayed by one day during the holiday week.

Although public safety agencies will continue operating at full capacity, the West Fargo Police Department and Fire Department buildings will remain closed to visitors.

Emergency and other public safety operations will continue despite the holiday closures.

West Fargo highlights three locations where residents can honor veterans

Alongside the announcement of municipal closures, the city is encouraging residents to recognize the service and sacrifices of military veterans by visiting several local memorial sites.

One location is the POW/MIA Plaza at 400 Sheyenne Street, next to West Fargo VFW Post #7564. The public park honors prisoners of war and military personnel who remain missing in action.

Another site is Maplewood Park, located at 1504 17th Avenue E. The park features a Veterans Memorial dedicated to remembering those who served in the military.

Residents can also visit the tree dedication along 4th Street E., north of 31st Avenue E. near Maple Ridge Park.

The trees at this location were planted in memory of local fallen heroes, providing another place for community members to reflect on their sacrifices.

The city is reminding residents to account for the holiday closures and adjusted collection schedule while also taking time to recognize veterans and their contributions.

Regular public access to municipal facilities is expected to resume after the holiday.
