City of Fargo announces detailed schedule of office closures and service adjustments for Independence Day weekend
Fargo, North Dakota – Residents in Fargo should prepare for several city office closures and temporary service adjustments as the community observes the Independence Day holiday.
City officials announced that Fargo city offices, Municipal Court, and Fargo Cass Public Health will be closed on Friday, July 3. The closure also includes WIC services and the public health clinic. Regular operations are expected to resume following the holiday weekend.
While many government offices will be closed, essential public safety services will continue operating throughout the holiday period.
Garbage collection and transit changes
Garbage and recycling collection schedules will be adjusted during the week of the holiday. Collections will take place as normal on Monday, June 29. After that, all remaining pickup days during the week will occur one day earlier than usual.
Residents should also note that the Fargo Sanitary Landfill and the Household Hazardous Waste Facility will not be open on Friday, July 3.
Public transportation services will see some changes as well. MATBUS administrative offices will be closed on July 3, but regular bus and paratransit operations will continue that day. However, no MATBUS bus or paratransit services will operate on Saturday, July 4.
Libraries and public lobbies affected
Fargo Public Library locations will be closed for two days, on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4. Library services will return to their normal schedule on Monday, July 6.
The public lobbies at Fargo Police Department Headquarters, located at 105 25th Street North, and Fargo Fire Department Station 1, located at 637 NP Avenue, will also be closed on July 3.
Although lobby access will be unavailable, city officials emphasized that police and fire services will remain fully staffed and operational during the holiday. Emergency response personnel will continue providing protection and assistance to residents throughout the Independence Day weekend.
The holiday schedule is intended to allow city employees to observe Independence Day while ensuring that critical services remain available. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead for office closures, modified garbage collection schedules, transportation changes, and library shutdowns to avoid inconvenience during the holiday period.
