West Fargo announces temporary Sheyenne Street closure for Treat Street event on October 27

West Fargo, North Dakota – The City of West Fargo has announced a temporary road closure along Sheyenne Street on Tuesday, October 27, to accommodate the upcoming Treat Street event.

The closure will affect Sheyenne Street from south of Second Avenue West to Fifth Avenue West. The roadway will close at 2 p.m. to allow organizers to prepare for the event and is scheduled to reopen to regular traffic at 8 p.m. the same evening.

During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Sukuts Street as an alternative route.

City officials are encouraging drivers who regularly travel through the affected area to plan ahead and allow additional time to reach their destinations.

West Fargo officials warned that motorists traveling near the event may experience heavier traffic, congestion and delays throughout the afternoon and evening.

With more pedestrians expected in the area, drivers are being reminded to remain alert, avoid distractions and yield to people crossing or walking near the roadway.

The city is also encouraging motorists to follow the ‘S’ check, which focuses on three important driving habits: speed, space and stress.

Drivers should monitor their speed, maintain enough distance from other vehicles and remain patient when traveling through busy event areas.

The city also reminded residents and event organizers that street closures require an approved Street and Event Closing Permit.

Applications for these permits are available through the City of West Fargo’s official website and must be submitted at least 30 days before an event.

Motorists are encouraged to use the designated detour and exercise additional caution near Sheyenne Street until the roadway reopens at 8 p.m. on October 27.
