Fargo Public Library hosts free dinosaur-themed wrap-up event for the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge
Fargo, North Dakota – The Fargo Public Library is preparing to wrap up one of its biggest summer programs with a special dinosaur-themed event designed to entertain and educate children of all ages.
Families are invited to attend the Summer Reading Challenge wrap-up celebration featuring Dakota Dinosaur Adventure on Monday, July 27. The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at the Dr. James Carlson Library, located at 2801 32nd Ave. S. in Fargo.
Organizers have planned the event as an open house, allowing visitors to arrive and participate in activities throughout the morning. No advance registration is required, making it easy for families to stop by and join the celebration.
Dinosaurs and hands-on activities await young visitors
The wrap-up event will transport children back to the age of dinosaurs through a variety of interactive experiences.
One of the main attractions will be an animatronic baby dinosaur, giving young visitors the chance to see a lifelike prehistoric creature up close. Children will also have the opportunity to take part in fossil excavation activities, where they can experience what it is might be like to uncover ancient discoveries.
In addition to those featured attractions, the event will include other interactive programs designed to spark curiosity and encourage learning while keeping children entertained.
Library officials said the event is open to kids of all ages, making it a fun outing for families looking for an educational summer activity before school resumes.
The dinosaur celebration is one part of the Fargo Public Library’s free 2026 Summer Reading Challenge, which continues through Aug. 15.
The annual program encourages people of every age to stay engaged with reading during the summer months. Participants can join by reading books, attending library events, and completing a variety of reading challenges and activities.
Throughout the summer, the library has offered stories, weekly special events, live performances, and activities for children, teenagers, and adults, creating opportunities for the entire community to participate.
The Summer Reading Challenge and the Dakota Dinosaur Adventure event are sponsored in part by the Friends of the Fargo Public Library.
Library officials emphasized that all Fargo Public Library programs are free and open to the public.
For safety reasons, children ages 9 and younger must be accompanied by an adult while attending library events.
Anyone who needs an accommodation to participate is encouraged to contact the library at least three business days in advance so arrangements can be made.
