Competitive paddling event “Race the Red” finally underway in Fargo
Fargo, North Dakota – The Red River is expected to see an increase in activity today, as participants take to the waters for the annual Race the Red event.
Competitors have the flexibility to select their preferred distance for this paddle race. The options available are 1.5, 3.5, or 6 miles, catering to a range of skill levels. The starting and finishing point for all races is situated at the south boat ramp at Dike East.
Participants will paddle against the current to a pre-determined turnaround point, where they will collect a prize before making their return downstream to the finish line.
It should be noted that this year’s race has been postponed twice. The initial postponement was necessitated due to flooding. The event was then rescheduled once more, out of an abundance of caution, given the safety concerns associated with fast-moving water conditions.
For those in need of equipment, the event’s organizers have a limited inventory of canoes, single kayaks, and tandem kayaks available for rental. The rental fee is priced at $15, a reasonable rate that further encourages community participation in this engaging event.
